SSI Training
The primary goal of any SSI speciality course is to teach you important skills in a fun environment. All courses are taught using home study, short academic sessions and in-water training. Equipment hire and training materials are supplied as standard with each course. For those courses which include open water skills Capernwray fees will be additional. If courses take longer than expected, there may be additional charges. There are minimum ages for some of the courses, please ask us.
Open Water Diver- £599
The open water course makes sure you are truly comfortable with the knowledge, skills and equipment you will use. You have the option to tag the Dry Suit Diver program on to this course to make a fully rounded UK diver. After certification you will be qualified to dive to 18 metres anywhere in the world with a buddy of your choice. Certification lasts for life. We teach people from the age of 10 and adaptive clients, subject to satisfactory medical.

Advanced Open Water Diver-£900
SSI’s Advanced Diver rating stands alone in the industry with the highest combination of diving knowledge and experience. No other agency’s advanced diver level compares. To earn the certification for Advanced Open Water Diver, you must complete 4 speciality courses and have done a total of 24 dives.

Try Dive- £99/£135
If you want to try scuba diving for the first time, the SSI Try Scuba program is a perfect choice. You will be introduced to the underwater world, go scuba diving in confined water and earn the SSI Try Scuba recognition card. Conducted in shallow water, it is a diving adventure the whole family can enjoy.
can be done in either the pool or capernwray.
Advanced Adventurer- £300
During the Advanced Adventurer Program you will have the chance to try out 5 different specialities. You will complete one open water training dive per speciality. If you decide to take a full course in any of the specialities you tried, the dive you took can be applied to your advanced qualification in that speciality.

Boat Diving- £225
In your Boat Diving Speciality Course you will learn the different types of boat you can dive from (rigid hulled inflatable boats or hard boats being the most popular) You will learn boat safety, entry and exit skills, rope skills, and how to secure a boat.

Deep Diving- £300
Dive in places where only a few have explored before! Get the experience of diving below 30 metres. To do these dives safely, you need the right skills and the right knowledge and that is exactly what Deep Diving provides you. Without proper training this kind of diving is an uncontrollable safety risk. To plan your dives properly you must first know about all of the potential risks involved in Deep Diving. SSI’ s deep diving course will provide you with the skills, knowledge and experience required to make these types of dives safely and comfortably.

Dry Suit Diving- £225
If you want to dive all year round in the UK and get the most enjoyment from your diving, Dry Suit Diving is the course you should take. Visibility at the colder times of the year is usually excellent so it is a great time to get out there. You will learn about the advantages of dry suit diving, different suits, valves, underwear and dry suit accessories. During the 2 mandatory dives you will apply correct dry diving techniques and demonstrate the correct care and maintenance of a dry suit.

Diver Stress & Rescue- £350
Diver stress is a major cause of diving accidents, but it can easily be prevented and resolved. Learn to identify stress, how to prevent accidents, and learn rescue diver skills with the SSI Diver Stress & Rescue Speciality program. Help yourself and other divers to stay safe. Earn your SSI Dive Stress & Rescue Speciality certification today.

Enriched Air Nitrox- £225
Have you ever dreamed of having longer no decompression limits to take pictures or explore a wreck? Did you want to reduce the potential risk of decompression sickness? Nitrox is the key. Due to the reduced fraction of nitrogen in your breathing gas, your body will have less work and the desaturation times will be reduced. In your Enriched Air Nitrox program you will learn all the necessary rules for planning dives with Nitrox and using Nitrox in a safe way. An important key point in the entire program is analysing your own cylinder prior to any Nitrox dive.

Navigation- £225
Have you ever asked yourself “how does my instructor manage to find the way back to the exit point or to the boat?”. If so, this program is what you need to learn this skill for yourself.
The Navigation program will teach you to navigate with a compass and how to apply natural navigation skills. You will also learn to estimate distances, navigate different search patterns, find your way to different marking points and be able to get back to the exit point at any time.

Night & Limited Visibility- £225
Diving doesn’t end when the sun goes down! Become a night diver and meet the incredible marine life that only comes out at night. Join the SSI Night Diving and Limited Visibility Specialty program and you’ll learn all you need to dive safely at night or in limited visibility.

Perfect Buoyancy- £225
Improving your buoyancy control skills is a must to be able to protect the reefs and environment around you. It is a pre-requisite on check in dives when diving on holiday. You will also find that your air consumption improves as you better control your buoyancy.
Photo & Video- £225
The digital underwater photography program can be learned in confined water or directly in open water.

React Right- £225
React Right is SSI’s emergency first response course and provides you with the training and knowledge you need to act as a first responder in a medical emergency.
In this flexible dive program, you can choose which subjects you want to learn about, including primary assessment, first aid, CPR and primary stabilization techniques. You can also learn about oxygen administration in diving emergencies and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) basics.
Science Of Diving- £300
Having the right knowledge is just as important as the correct handling of your diving equipment. Diving is just more fun and safer if you have the knowledge and understanding. The Science of Diving program explains all areas of dive theory in a detailed and comprehensive manner: physics, physiology, decompression theory, marine life and diving equipment are all covered. Whether you simply want more knowledge or plan to become a dive professional, Science of Diving can help. This is a perfect winter speciality, since no dives are required.
Search & Recovery- £225
SSI offers a structured program for Search and Recovery where you will learn to perform different search patterns. With the help of a recovery operations team you will also learn to correctly handle one or more lifting bags in order to securely lift heavy objects to the surface.

Waves, Tides & Currents- £225
This is a must for any ambitious diver. Anyone who wants to dive in the sea should understand and know how to handle water movements. This can be the waves when entering from shore or a boat, or the rip current in a channel next to an island, or just the current on a dive. If the current is running against the diver how does the diver move effectively in it? How can somebody determine the strength of a current and plan the dive accordingly? Waves, tides and currents can help you answer all of these questions.

Wreck Diving- £225
Many of the ocean’s best dive sites are wrecks. These impressive structures attract unusually high densities of marine life and give you the chance to immerse in living history as you dive. There is nothing quite like wreck diving and the SSI Wreck Diving Specialty will give you all the skills and knowledge you need to become a safe and confident wreck diver.

Dive Guide- £790
The SSI Dive Guide Program, is a simple way for divers who want to be more involved, but aren’t ready to take on the responsibility of becoming an SSI Instructor. The Dive Guide program is the starting point for the dive professional adventure. The Dive Guide program approaches training using practical application, background information and flexibility. Assistant Instructor- £1,690

Then qualifying as an SSI Assistant Instructor is the right program for you! Learn to teach new divers academics and confined water skills under the supervision of a scuba instructor.
Open Water Instructor- £2,990
